The Myth of Aging & The Riddle of the Sphinx

We as humans are haunted by the notion that to age means to degenerate.
Think of the riddle of the Sphinx: “What is it that has one voice and yet becomes four-footed and two-footed and finally, three-footed” Oedipus provided the answer: “a human being.”

Some are content to believe this myth, yet a few are choosing to defy all expectations and slow the body’s deterioration. Through exercise, healthy nourishment choices and a positive attitude.

Recently, a local workshop was presented entitled:” Staying Young for the first 100 years.” This title implies that we hold the power to stave off the degenerative process of aging. I truly believe that as we climb the hill of the first few decades of our new century, people will begin to take note of those who are living longer, healthier lives.

I think this generation of humans will have something to say about the myth of aging! Then we might finally have the last laugh at that old Sphinx!
